The Prowine e-shop owes a third of its traffic to product comparison sites. Thanks to plugins, they can handle advertising on them themselves.

The family winery Prowine, a major importer of Bulgarian wines, also focuses on direct sales to end customers via its own e-shop. And naturally – Toret plugins help them do it.

Who is behind the Prowine e-shop

Behind the Prowine brand is the Tanev family, who have been importing quality wines and spirits from Bulgaria since 2002. First as a wholesaler, since 2015 with their own e-shop for end customers in the Czech Republic, and subsequently in Slovakia (2020).

“We wanted to offer wines in the Czech Republic that truly represent Bulgarian quality – not just cheap brands like Bear’s Blood.”

And because the Tanev family is doing well with the e-shop, they are planning to enter the German and Austrian B2C market in the near future.

Behind the scenes of the e-shop

They started with the e-shop in 2015–2017 on a different platform, but soon switched to WordPress. On the recommendation of a programmer, they found their way to Toret plugins.

On the Prowine e-shop, you can currently find a whole range of our plugins – from shipping (PPL, Zásilkovna, Balíkovna) to the invoicing plugin for Fakturoid, Toolkit, and plugins for product comparison engines (XML feeds, Product Comparators).

“I don’t strictly have one favorite plugin because they all fulfill their purpose – they speed up and simplify work, which for me is the main point of plugins in general. But if I had to highlight some, it would be the plugins for comparison engines and the integration with Fakturoid.”

“Comparison engine plugins help us be seen”

Price comparison engines are very important for the Prowine e-shop – they help reach new customers and generate a substantial part of traffic and revenue.

“Quite a few people come to our e-shop from comparison engines. Last month, we recorded more than a third of visitors from Heureka and Zboží.cz. Together, we achieved a conversion rate of 12.5% from these visits, which I consider a very decent number.”

They can manage Product feeds for comparison engines themselves on the Prowine e-shop – thanks to the XML feeds plugin. They simply click everything in the administration exactly as they need.

“Setting up the XML feed itself is technically quite simple. I would say anyone with at least basic knowledge can handle it.”

Key factor – reviews and certificates from comparison engines

On the Prowine e-shop, you can also notice the Verified by Customers certificate and reviews from comparison engines. According to Filip Tanev Jr., the certificate and reviews are crucial for e-shop credibility.

“I consider displaying reviews on the e-shop very beneficial. We manage to get positive reviews from Heureka focused on satisfaction with the purchase, and thanks to the plugin, we can simply display them directly on the website. The Verified by Customers certificate adds another layer of credibility, which is positively reflected in sales.”

To display the certificate and reviews, Prowine uses the Product Comparison Sites plugin.

Recipe for success according to Prowine? Vision, good product, and a reliable e-shop

In the case of the Prowine e-shop, a deeper vision, a quality product, and the technical solution of the e-shop are successfully combined. WordPress allowed them to build a store according to their ideas, and Toret plugins supplement the necessary functions.

“WordPress offers huge possibilities for customization and freedom. And if you supplement it with reliable and functional plugins from Toret, you have a solid foundation for a successful e-shop. For me, nothing more is needed.”
