How to set up the One Stop Shop regime in WooCommerce?

One Stop Shop (OSS), also known as the special one-stop shop scheme, is designed to simplify VAT payments. For e-shop owners selling their products within the EU, this scheme provides significant simplification. Thanks to OSS, they can submit a single consolidated VAT return in one member state instead of registering and filing separately in each country.

However, alongside its benefits, OSS also introduces new invoicing requirements that must be met. In today’s guide, we will show you how to implement the One Stop Shop scheme and these requirements in your WooCommerce store.

How does the One Stop Shop work?

The One Stop Shop includes three schemes – the Union scheme, the import scheme, and the non-Union scheme. If you become liable to pay VAT abroad, OSS allows you to declare and pay VAT without having to register for VAT in that specific country. You pay VAT only in the EU country where you are registered for the OSS scheme.

Registration for the One Stop Shop scheme is voluntary and can be completed online via the MOJE Daně portal.

Invoicing under the One Stop Shop scheme

Although the One Stop Shop allows you to file a unified European VAT return and pay VAT in your country of registration, you must still apply the VAT rates of individual countries. When invoicing abroad, you must therefore state the correct VAT rates according to the customer’s country and the product category. For this reason, you will need invoicing software that supports the One Stop Shop scheme.

One of the tools that allows you to invoice in WooCommerce while supporting the One Stop Shop scheme is iDoklad. To use it for invoicing, you will need an iDoklad account with a plan that supports API integration. You can connect it to WooCommerce using the iDoklad plugin.

1. Purchase the iDoklad plugin, install it, and connect it to iDoklad. Our documentation will guide you through the process.

2. In the plugin settings (Toret Plugins > iDoklad), under the Main settings section, check the box Enable OSS mode.

4. In OSS mode, the iDoklad API does not allow issuing proforma invoices. Therefore, make sure automatic proforma creation is disabled. You can find this setting in the Create proforma invoice section. For each payment method, leave the field empty or select Do not generate.

5. You can also hide the proforma creation button in the order overview and order detail.

6. Save the settings.

7. Check in your iDoklad account that OSS mode is enabled, and activate it if necessary. You can find this setting in app.idoklad.cz > Settings > Company > Accounting details.

You now have OSS mode configured for your invoices. When invoicing abroad, the correct VAT rate will be automatically assigned to invoice items. If multiple VAT rates are available for a specific country, you can manually edit the invoice and select a different rate.

Simplify invoicing in your e-shop and issue invoices in just a few clicks or fully automatically – with the iDoklad plugin, it’s easy.
