Need to update PHP? We’ll do it for you
One-off update of WordPress, plugins and PHP for websites and online stores
No need to worry whether your plugins and theme can handle a newer PHP version. We back up your site, update it, switch it to the new PHP and check that the cart and checkout work.
Why you shouldn’t put it off
Older PHP gets no security fixes
PHP 8.1 and older no longer receive fixes. And the critical PHP2Shell vulnerability from October 2026 lets attackers take over an unpatched server without logging in.
PHP 8.2 gets fixes only until the end of the year
Security support for PHP 8.2 ends on 31 December 2026. That’s why we recommend going straight to PHP 8.4, which gets fixes until the end of 2028.
Our plugins require PHP 8.2
Since 22 October 2026, the minimum PHP version for Toret plugins is 8.2. If your site runs on older PHP, switch to a newer version before the next plugin update.
What we’ll do for you
Backup ▪️ Update ▪️ New PHP ▪️ Testing ▪️ Handover
Switching PHP on your hosting takes just a few clicks. But outdated plugins and themes often stop working on newer PHP, and your site or checkout can go down with them. That’s why we work in this order:
1. Website backup
Before we touch anything, we back up the files and the database. If anything goes wrong, we restore the site to its original state.
2. Plugin and theme check
We go through what runs on your site and find out which plugins or theme customisations don’t work on newer PHP or are no longer developed.
3. WordPress update
We update WordPress, WooCommerce, plugins, the theme and translations to their current versions.
4. Switch to new PHP
We switch the site to PHP 8.4, or 8.3 if your hosting or one of the plugins can’t handle the newer version yet. Then we check the error log.
5. Testing what matters
We test the site as a customer would: cart, checkout, payments, shipping, sending emails and invoices. We also go through the admin.
6. Handover and summary
We send you a list of what we updated and what we dealt with. If something can’t be solved right away, such as a plugin nobody develops anymore, we suggest what to do about it.
How much does it cost
You only pay for the time actually worked. One hour of work costs €60 excl. VAT. How many hours it takes depends mainly on how long your site has gone without updates and how many plugins it has.

When the service is right for you
- Your site runs on PHP 8.1 or older.
- You haven’t updated WordPress, WooCommerce or plugins for a long time.
- Your hosting provider warned you that your PHP version is reaching its end.
- WordPress Site Health reports an outdated PHP version.
- You’re worried the checkout or theme will break after the update.
- You don’t have time to deal with it yourself.
Which PHP version do you have?
In WordPress, open Tools > Site Health > Info and expand the Server section. You’ll find the version in the PHP version row.
Is it lower than 8.2? Then it’s time to update. You don’t need to include it in your order, we’ll find it out ourselves.
Frequently asked questions
Patch releases within one series, for example from 8.3.35 to 8.3.36, are usually deployed by the hosting provider. Moving to a higher series, for example from PHP 7.4 or 8.1 to 8.4, is something you usually have to switch on yourself in your hosting control panel. Your hosting provider doesn’t know whether your site can handle it.
Access to the WordPress admin and to the hosting control panel where the PHP version is changed. For paid plugins and themes, valid licences, as they can’t be updated without them. We’ll ask for access only once we’ve agreed on the details.
Usually not. If the site needs to be taken offline for a while, we’ll agree with you on a time that suits you best.
We test the site after the update, so we usually find errors before your customers do. If something shows up later, get in touch. We have a backup and we know what we changed.
First we try its newer version. If nobody develops it anymore, we suggest a replacement or a modification and tell you how much work it will be. We don’t do anything extra without your approval.
No. We’ll update any website or online store running on WordPress and WooCommerce.
