Newly, **price records must be retained for 3 years.** The method of record-keeping is up to you, but it must include the following: - a clearly identifying name (or type) of the goods sold - the amount of the applied price - the period during which the price was applied If goods are sold at multiple prices (e.g., loyalty program pricing), you must **record all prices**. An exception applies to goods subject to rapid spoilage (and therefore frequent price changes during the day), where only the initial price must be recorded. Failure to comply with this obligation may result in a fine of up to CZK 1,000,000 imposed by the Czech Trade Inspection Authority. ## Obligation to display unit prices for selected products Probably the most significant change is the obligation to display the **price per unit of measurement** (1 kg, 1 l, 1 m, 1 m², or 1 m³ of product). The information must be clear, easily recognizable, and legible. You do not need to display the unit price if it is identical to the selling price. The products subject to this obligation are specified in **Decree No. 291/2024 Coll.** These include: | Product category | `Types of products` | | --- | --- | | Paints, varnishes, adhesives, binders, and solvents | paints (except artistic paints in tablets, tubes, bottles, jars, and similar packaging), varnishes, adhesives, glazes, binders, primers, thinners, and other solvents | | Construction products and materials | dry construction mixes and construction chemicals, wallpapers, tiles and cladding, insulation materials, wall-to-wall floor coverings, fastening materials | | Cleaning and disinfecting products | products for leather and footwear, wood and floor coverings, ovens and metals including automotive use, windows and mirrors including automotive use, stain removers, starches and dyes for household use, household insecticides, regenerating salts and descaling agents, non-pharmaceutical disinfectants, household air fresheners (except evaporative types), pool chemicals | | Cosmetics and hygiene products | skin care products (except decorative cosmetics), oral/dental hygiene products, bath products, hair care products (except dyes and single-use ampoules), shaving products, perfumed waters, toilet waters, perfumes, pre- and after-shave products, deodorants and personal hygiene products, toilet paper, paper tissues, towels and napkins, sanitary pads and tampons, baby and adult diapers | | Detergents and washing products | soaps and soap flakes, washing, cleaning, rinsing agents and auxiliaries (including tablets and capsules), hypochlorite products, washing powders, gels, tablets and capsules, pre-wash and soaking agents, cleaning pastes | | Pet supplies | pet food and treats, litter and bedding | | Non-food oils including automotive oils and operating fluids | engine oils, transmission oils, bearing and circulation oils, slideway oils, compressor oils, chain lubrication oils, brake fluids, coolants, windshield washer fluids, floor and furniture oils | | Threads, yarns, twines, cords, and ropes | threads, knitting and crochet yarns, twines and cords, ropes | | Gardening supplies | fertilizers (except those sold in consumer packages smaller than 50 g / 50 ml), plant protection products (except packages smaller than 50 g / 50 ml), garden substrates, seeds (except seeds sold in consumer packages smaller than 50 g) | Compliance with this obligation is also supervised by the Czech Trade Inspection Authority, which may impose fines. ## Do not underestimate the new regulation The amendment to the pricing act is another regulation you should not overlook in your e-shop. As in other cases, inspections and significant fines may apply, so we recommend implementing the required changes as soon as possible. --- Due to the complexity of the issue and the risk of high penalties for non-compliance, we recommend consulting legal professionals regarding e-shop legal matters.
